My concept for the homepage of the microsite – the animated questions immediately give a sense of the type of information available on the site. Though I just did a visual skeleton of the website, a functioning version would ideally have numerous parallax scrolling effects like this, to make the subsequent information animate in.
When thinking about the logo, I tried to imagine a few of the forms it might take: in addition to the header for the website, it would probably be reproduced on shareables, email newsletter headers, and simple animations. I wanted to create something both illustrative and clean, that would display well digitally.
Below, I’ve included a very basic visual skeleton, with three content blocks that would all lead to other, more detailed pages hosted within the microsite. I wanted to create something where within one easy, short scroll, you could get a brief overview of only the most important people, events, and FAQs.
I wanted to create something around the idea that this website would answer common questions the average person might have around impeachment, from the most basic identifications to the more detailed explainers.
Considering that this was going to be disseminated across social media channels, I also wanted to highlight that it was something that was easily viewed on mobile devices, and that the content was easily and quickly digestable.
For the visual aesthetic, I opted for a very clear graphic that would immediately draw attention to the URL for the quickest readability. By using a block highlight, I was able to immediately distinguish the URL as the most critical piece of written information and use a common CAPAF design practice.
For this shareable, I wanted to create something animated that would present the information in an engaging manner. Because it was made for Instagram, I wanted it to loop seamlessly and contain simple graphics that would visually reinforce the written information. All vector illustrations are my own!
These are a few of the graphic assets I prepared for this animation!
